Linda Connell Studley: Calendar

Shelley Mowatt sat in with her violetta and did we have fun! What a wonderful talent Shelley has! To be able to just sit down and jump right in and play along to songs I KNOW she's never heard before (because I just wrote them a week before!) and intuitively empower them with her delightful stylings! Thanks Shelley!

It's a noisy place, the Farmers Market, but it's a happy noise. People laughing and greeting each other, delighting over the yummy food, beautiful crafts and fragrant flowers. Dawson Creek is lucky to have such a well run Farmers Market with so many excellent products available. (including music!)

Wow! Two very busy days! But I met some very lovely people and some extremely talented musicians. It was great to catch up with Saskia and Darrell. Gary Fjellgaard was his usual amazing self. This was the first time I'd heard "Out of Alba" - Wow! what an incredible sound. If you get a chance, go see them, you won't regret it.
And what a super audience; after the torrential downpour, we weren't sure how many would return, but as soon as the rain stopped, the audience was ready to go again! Northern audiences are tough!
I love playing in Hudsons Hope!

HOT, HOT, HOT! I played, I sang, I burned bright red like the Canadian maple leaf, lol! The audience was terrific! Thousands of people all having a marvellous day. Happy Birthday Canada!

Chetwynd Coffeehouses are great fun; you never know who's going to get up and sing or play. I sang along with Shannon Ingersoll on a couple of tunes. Great fun, she has a huge talent. Bill played and sang, and Ian and Rick too. Hugh Spinney and Moneka Hillton are an exceptional act, catch them if you can! Chetwynd has a solid core of very talented songwriters/performers. Another one of those places I just love to perform!

How exciting to open for a brand new event! The weather cooperated (mostly) and the audience was really very good for a first time event. I hope this becomes an annual thing. It's a fine way to bring people together downtown!

The Pioneer Village is a wonderful setting for a concert. The historical backdrop, the easy, casual way the audience moves through the village, listening for a while, visiting the exhibits, then coming back again, was an refreshing change from a straight concert format. Very relaxed and friendly.

Even though it was a bit windy and chilly at times, the turn out was grand. We were very happy to do something to help out this event. Having lost my father to cancer, it is a cause that is close to my heart. Wishing for a cure won't do it, we have to work towards it and if everyone did just a little, no one would have to do it all!

This Coffeehouse was preceded by a Songwriters Circle, where songwriters from the Peace Region Songwriters Association and Chetwynd songwriters got together to share songs, ideas, experience and skills. It's a truly fine thing to see people come into their creativity, smiling. To encourage and nurture that creativity.
The coffeehouse featured both Dawson Creek and Chetwynd songwriters. What a great evening - so many different styles and sounds! All terrific, Mostly original.
